🚨 Ralph Hasenhuttl sacked by Southampton. Saints now in talks with Luton manager, Nathan Jones

Earlier today, manager Ralph Hasenhuttl was sacked by Southampton after their 4-1 defeat to Newcastle on Sunday, with it becoming their sixth loss in nine games. The Austrian had been manager at St Marys for almost 4 years, and has had some memorable moments and some forgettable moments too. He took the Saints to 11th place in the 19/20 season and 15th place both last season and the 20/21 season. However, he did suffer two 9-0 defeats, one being against Leicester and the other being against Manchester United.

The Southampton official statement said, "Hasenhuttl departs having made a significant contribution to the club, overseeing some memorable results and also playing a key role in the development of our club infrastructure, identity and playing squad. However, we now believe it is an appropriate time to make a change. Everyone involved with the club would like to express their sincere thanks to Ralph for all of his efforts, as well as the unwavering commitment he has shown throughout his time as manager."

As for now, the club will have an interim manager, which is Ruben Selles, who will take charge of the team against Sheffield Wednesday in the Carabao Cup. However, Southampton have been granted permission by Luton Town, to speak to their manager, Nathan Jones, over the free vacancy. The official statement of Luton Town said, "We would like to place on record that the Premier League club have approached the board in the correct manner, for which we are grateful, and that the whole situation is extremely amicable with Southampton and with Nathan."
